Online identification of Enterobacteriaceae/Vibrios/Pseudomonas/Gram positive cocci (beta)

Have you ever been in a situation where the results of various biochemical reactions performed on gram positive cocci/gram negative fermentative/non-fermentative isolates do not lead to any conclusive identification. Identification is easy when the isolate yield typical results, but becomes confusing as unexpected results are obtained.
This (beta) application uses 47 physiological and biochemical tests and can be used to identify 111 members of Enterobacteriaceae family, 44 tests to identify 43 Vibrio spp and related members, 67 tests to identify 26 Pseudomonas and related members, 60 tests to identify 72 Gram positive aerobic cocci. I am yet to implement the others.
How to use this application?
There are two provisions in this application:
  • You could either identify the isolate depending on physiological & biochemical tests or
  • You could enlist the properties of these organisms.
All the tests and their results are displayed on the relevant page. The results are provided in three options; positive, negative and ? in the form of radio buttons. By default, ? button is checked; it indicates that the particular test has not been performed. Click on the corresponding radio buttons. If you have not performed certain tests, you can ignore them. If you make a mistake while clicking, you can click on the correct option again. Finally, click on the submit button.
Depending on your input, the application would perform some calculation and run a scan of database and you would be presented with name of the isolates along with percentage probability. This means that there could be more than one result. Performance of the application depends on correctness and the number of user input. You can increase the specificity by increasing the number of tests. If you are not satisfied with the results, you can go back, modify the input and try again.

The second option allows user to select bacteria from the list and all the properties fed in the database would be displayed.

Even though it is free of cost, I would like to know its users. Kindly fill in the following form as it would help me track the visitor location and its popularity (if any). Please note that your email will be safe with me and would not be passed on to any third party. I assume that by using the online facility, you have gone through the site disclaimer and agree to abide by it. I would be glad to know your opinion and feedback.
